Woodward Canyon's Rick Small is number 29 on the "Top 100 Most Influential U.S. Winemakers" list written by Michael Cervin. To read more of the article, please click here.
"29-Rick Small of Washington’s Woodward Canyon was instrumental in establishing the Walla Walla AVA, and forming his winery in 1981. Since that time, Small has consistently produced premium, award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Grenache, Dolcetto and other varietals, proving that the region was capable of producing top quality wine. Housed in a restored 1870's farmhouse, the winery has always focused on sustainable practices both in the vineyard and in the day-to-day operations at the winery."

Zinfandel Chronicles Tastes 1998 Woodward Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon
Zinfandel Chronicles, by Tom Lee on April 1, 2013
"The reds from Woodward Canyon age as gracefully as anything produced in Washington. Bright violet in color. 14.4% ABV. Super ripe with a nose of candied cherries. Leather, tobacco, maraschino cherries, smoke, spice, chocolate, mint and cassis on the palate. The finish is rich, earthy and long. This wine is in a holding pattern – it’s largely unchanged from the bottle I had in the Summer of 2011. I will let my last few bottles cellar for another 3-5 years. My rating: 93 points."
